Dwarves are a short race, as their name implies, standing between 4'3" and 4'9" on average. What Dwarves lack in height they make up for in bulk; they are, on average, about as heavy as humans. A Dwarf can weigh anywhere from about 160 to 220 lbs. Dwarven males are a bit taller and heavier than their female counterparts. Like humans, Dwarves have a wide variety of skin, eye, and hair colors.
Male Dwarves are often bald and grow thick facial hair sometimes used to display social status. It is a common misconception that female Dwarves also do this. Their hair is often dark in hue, though blond or red hair is just as common. Dwarves take the care of beards to an extreme, carefully oiling and grooming it while females keep theirs trimmed to the chin to prevent confusion among the other races as well as their own kin.
Dwarves are a long-lived race, though not so much as the Elves, and reach physical maturity somewhat later than humans. A dwarf is traditionally considered an adult once he or she reaches age fifty. Dwarves age much like humans but over a longer period of time, remaining vigorous well past 150 years. Most Dwarves live to see their bicentennial and a few live to be over 400.
The Dwarves are inherently resistant to many spells and spell-like effects and are therefore unable to study magic unless the Dwarf has been "touched by your gain" (in which case, the Dwarf loses all magical resistance). Dwarf characters gain bonuses against the use of most magic, including all spells, wands, rods and staves. The amount of the bonus depends upon the Dwarf's constitution every 3.5 points of constitution (rounding down fractions) grants a bonus of +1 against such magic. Moreover, the hardy Dwarven nature imparts a similar bonus on any saving throw against poison. Dwarves are not a numerous folk, but they are adventurous, loving the luster of gold, the glitter of gems and the quality of well-wrought metals. Dwarves can live to an age of 350 years or more.
Summary of Dwarven Racial abilities:
