Helm Symbol

Bastion's symbol

Bastion (also known as the Vigilant One and The Faceless Watcher) is the god of guardians, protection and protectors. He is worshiped by guards and Paladins. Both, long being seen as a cold, loyal and focused deity who impartially took the role of defender and sometimes also enforcer. His activities in the Time of Reckoning caused the folk of Aldrazar to look differently on the Watcher.

WorshipersEdit

Followers of Bastion are respected and revered for their dedication and purpose, and their pledge to come to the defense of those who call for it. They wear polished full suits of armor often with plumed helmets. Their hierarchy is strict and militaristic, with specific groups such as the order of paladins called The Stalwart Sixteen. There would also always be a leader figure among all of them known as "The Unbent". However, there had not been someone in that post since -992BR

When preparing for battle, a Patriarch of Bastion might have used a ceremonial mace to cover troops in holy water, known as "The Defender's Vigor".

Orders Edit

The Stalwart Sixteen - A small fellowship of Clerics who refused to flee from battle. Only the strongest of Clerics were qualified to join.

The Sojourner Sentinels - A relatively obscure order of clerics who saw to the blessings of those about to partake on long journeys, such as traders and merchants.

The Faceless Guardians - An order of the knights who worship Bastion. All knights could join this guild after squiredom.

RelationshipsEdit

A very old deity, Helm was the eternal sentry and was always seen wearing a full suit of armor that represented the weight of his heavy responsibility. Yet Helm always got the job at hand done without complaint. The people of the Realms widely admired these qualities in what they saw as a humble and reassuring god.

The Triad

(See also: The Triad)

Bastion was one of the three gods of similar interests known as the Triad, along with Rem and Seer. It was often said by common-folk that he was the loyalest of the three in his subservient role, but the role he played was of true importance: he acted as the Eternal Watchman of the universe that defends the trio from being destroyed. The Triad broke up with the death of Seer however, but before Seer died he gave his godhood and power to Rem during or after the Conflict Wars, and Rem was elevated to a greater deity soon after. Even as a mere watcher, he was still loyal to his duties, even with the Triad temporarily gone.

Age of ReckoningEdit

During a part of the Age of Reckoning, when the gods walked Aldrazar, it was in reliable Bastion that The Maker trusted the task of keeping the other deities from returning to their divine realms in the planes without returning the Apocalypse stone. For this task, The Maker left Bastion with all his divine abilities, guarding the gateways to the planes.

The Triad RebornEdit

Many years later after his resurrection, Tyko joined the Triad taking the place of Seer which restored the Triad to its rightful glory.
